Quality Requirements For Pharmaceutical Packaging Aluminum Foil

Mar 19, 2023

The raw material for the production of aluminum foil for pharmaceutical packaging is industrial pure aluminum foil, which usually requires a thickness of 0.02mm, a tensile strength of 98kPa and a tensile strength of 90kPa. The surface is clean, flat, free of wrinkles and indentations, and there is no fluorescent material on the surface, and the wetting tension is not less than 32; the aluminum foil material for pharmaceutical packaging is made of 99% electrolytic aluminum, and it is processed by post-processing methods. It is non-toxic and tasteless, has high-quality electrical conductivity and light-shielding properties, and extremely high moisture-proof and gas-barrier properties.
The pinhole requirement of pharmaceutical packaging aluminum foil is that the pinholes with a diameter of 0.1~0.3mm should not exceed 1/m2. Since pinholes in aluminum foil are penetrating defects, health food and medicine will be reduced or deteriorated due to the intrusion of oxygen, water vapor and light, so the requirements for pinholes are very strict; in addition, if the thickness of aluminum foil exceeds the specified deviation (10%), it will affect the coating amount of adhesive layer and protective layer.
The aluminum foil used in pharmaceutical blister packaging is a sealing material sealed on a plastic hard plate, also known as a cover material, commonly known as PTP pharmaceutical packaging aluminum foil. It is based on hard industrial aluminum foil, which has the advantages of non-toxic, corrosion-resistant, impermeable, hygienic, heat-resistant, and moisture-proof. It is easy to sterilize at high temperature and can block light, which can protect drugs from light damage. Before sealing the aluminum foil covering material with a plastic hard sheet, the text and pattern instructions should be printed on a printing coating machine, and a protective agent should be applied, and an adhesive should be applied on the other side of the aluminum foil.
The purpose of coating the protective agent is to prevent the mechanical wear of the ink graphics on the surface of the pharmaceutical packaging aluminum foil, and also to prevent the outer layer of the ink from contacting the inner layer of the adhesive when the aluminum foil is mechanically wound. The role of the stain-coated adhesive is to give good bond strength to aluminum foil and rigid plastic sheets.
