What Is 6082 Aluminum
6082 is a 6xxx-series wrought alloy with silicon and magnesium as the main alloying elements (AlSi1MgMn). It is the most common structural aluminum grade in Europe, often chosen over 6061 where machinability, weldability, and a good strength-to-weight ratio matter. In the T6 temper it is solution heat-treated and artificially aged; in T651 it is additionally stress-relieved by stretching for better flatness and dimensional stability during heavy CNC work.

Processing & Fabrication
GNEE supports common downstream processing for 6082-T6 plate so buyers can receive near-finished parts instead of raw plate:
Cut-to-size - precision saw cutting and shearing for flat blanks; waterjet or CNC routing for complex profiles.
CNC machining - milling, drilling, tapping for fixture bases, tooling plates, and machined components (prefer T651 for thick plates to limit distortion).
Bending & forming - best done in O/T4; T6/T651 can be formed with appropriate radii and springback allowance.
Welding - TIG/MIG with 4043 or 5356 filler; note the weld zone is softer than the base temper and should be accounted for in design.
Surface treatment - anodizing (protective; not for high-gloss decorative), brushing, polishing, and protective film.
Stress relief - T651 stretching to reduce residual stress for stable, flat machined parts.
We do not list specific in-house equipment brands here; processing scope is confirmed against your drawing and tolerance at quotation. For projects needing only raw plate, we supply certified 6082-T6 plate with MTC and skip processing.

Typical Applications
Transport & trailers - chassis reinforcements, cross-members, bracket blanks, truck/van body structures (lightweighting vs steel).
Marine & shipbuilding - decks, superstructures, fittings (with suitable surface treatment for the service environment).
Bridges & structures - pedestrian bridges, trusses, towers, pylons.
Machinery & automation - fixture base plates, tooling plates, CNC machined parts, wear plates, robot frames.
Architecture - curtain-wall structures, structural members, decorative load-bearing parts.
Rail & general engineering - frames, supports, brackets.
One-Stop Supply Chain
Unlike piecemeal outsourcing, GNEE combines material sourcing, cutting/machining, quality inspection, and logistics into one chain. This removes multi-party coordination and repeated freight, keeps tolerance and quality under one QC system, and shortens delivery for structural and machining buyers worldwide.
FAQ
Q1: What is the difference between 6082-T6 and 6082-T651? A: Both are solution heat-treated and artificially aged. T651 adds a stretching step that relieves most internal stress, giving better flatness and less distortion after heavy CNC removal - pick T651 for thick plates and precision machining, T6 for welded structures and large batches.
Q2: Can 6082-T6 be welded? A: Yes. TIG/MIG with 4043 or 5356 filler is standard. The weld heat-affected zone is softer than the base T6 temper, so design for reduced local strength.
Q3: Is 6082 the same as 6061? A: No. Both are 6xxx Al–Mg–Si alloys. 6082 is the common European structural grade with slightly lower minimum yield (260 vs 276 MPa) but strong machinability and corrosion behavior; 6061 is the widespread North-American general-purpose grade. Pick by specification and stock availability.
Q4: What thickness and sizes can you supply? A: Plate typically 6–150 mm, up to 200 mm on request; widths to 2600 mm, lengths to 12000 mm cut-to-length. Sheet/coil 0.8–6 mm on request.
Q5: What documents come with the order? A: MTC per EN 10204 3.1 with each lot, plus chemical/mechanical test reports; third-party inspection (SGS, BV) on request.
Q6: What are MOQ and lead time? A: MOQ is flexible and small trial orders are considered case by case. Lead time is 15–30 days for stock sizes; custom items are confirmed at quotation.
Q7: Which standards do you supply to? A: ASTM B209, EN 485-1/-2, EN 573-3, GB/T 3880, GB/T 3190. Confirm the required standard on the PO.
Q8: Do you offer processing? A: Yes - cut-to-size, CNC machining, bending, welding, and surface treatment. Send your drawing and tolerance; we confirm scope at quotation.
