6082 T6 aluminum tube is a medium-strength aluminum tube. The alloy contains aluminum, magnesium, silicon, and manganese. After extrusion, the tube goes through solution heat treatment and artificial aging. That process is called the T6 temper.
6082-T6 is stronger than 6061-T6, so it is a common choice for structural parts, especially in Europe and Asia. It is also known as EN AW-6082 or DIN AlMgSi1.

| Chromium (Cr) | 0.25 max |
| Zinc (Zn) | 0.20 max |
| Copper (Cu) | 0.10 max |
| Titanium (Ti) | 0.10 max |
| Others, each | 0.05 max |
| Others, total | 0.15 max |
| Aluminum (Al) | Balance |
2. Mechanical Properties of 6082 T6 Aluminum Tube
Table 2: Typical mechanical properties of 6082-T6 tube
| Property | Typical value |
|---|---|
| Tensile strength | 290 – 310 MPa (42 – 45 ksi) |
| Yield strength (0.2%) | 250 – 270 MPa (36 – 39 ksi) |
| Elongation | 7 – 10 % |
| Hardness | approx. 95 HB |
| Density | 2.70 g/cm³ |
Minimum values depend on wall thickness and on the standard in your order (EN 755-2 or ASTM B210). Confirm the actual numbers on the mill test certificate for your exact size.
3. Sizes and Tolerances
Table 3: Size range we produce
| Parameter | Range |
|---|---|
| Outer diameter | 3.17 – 406.4 mm (1/8" – 16") |
| Wall thickness | 0.5 – 50.8 mm |
| Length | 1 – 12 m, or cut to your size |
| Temper | T6 standard; T4, T5, T651 on request |
| Form | Extruded seamless tube; cold drawn for tight tolerances |
Tolerances follow the standard in your order, and they change with OD and wall thickness. Send us your drawing for exact values. As a guide, OD tolerance on small drawn tubes is about ±0.15 mm, and straightness is typically about 1.5 mm per meter. Tighter straightness is possible on request.
4. Common Uses
6082 T6 tube is used where you need decent strength without too much weight. Everyday uses include:
Bicycle frames and parts
Ladders and scaffold tubes
Handrails and safety barriers
Truck bodies, trailers, and container frames
Machine frames and conveyor structures
Poles, masts, and antenna supports
Heat exchanger parts
Sports and fitness equipment
Bushes, spacers, and other machined parts
It suits outdoor and indoor structural parts that carry moderate loads.

5. Fabrication Notes
Cutting: saw cutting or CNC cutting, no special tools needed.
Machining: good. Normal carbide tools work fine.
Bending: T6 is harder to bend than soft tempers. For tight bends, order T4 or O temper and age to T6 after forming.
Welding: weldable with TIG or MIG. Note that welding lowers the strength in the zone near the weld. Re-aging after welding recovers part of the strength. For load-bearing welded parts, design for lower strength, or re-solution treat and re-age the whole part.
Finishing: 6082 takes anodizing and powder coating well.
6. Surface Finishes
Table 4: Surface options
| Finish | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Clear anodizing | Outdoor parts, corrosion protection |
| Colored anodizing | Consumer and furniture products |
| Powder coating | Railings, frames, outdoor structures |
| Sandblasting | Matt surface before coating |
| Mechanical polishing | Decorative parts |
7. Corrosion Resistance
6082 has good resistance to normal outdoor corrosion because the copper content is low. For marine or salt-water use, add a protective finish such as anodizing or powder coating. Bare tube is not the best choice for long salt-water exposure.
8. Working Temperature
6082-T6 keeps most of its strength in continuous service up to about 150 °C. Above that, strength drops. Check the design if your part runs hot.
9. Price and Lead Time
Aluminum prices change daily, so we quote per order. The price depends on alloy, size, length, quantity, and finish (anodizing, powder coating, cutting, etc.).
Send us your OD, wall, length, and quantity. We will give you a firm price and delivery time within 24 hours. As a guide, most standard orders take 10 – 30 days after deposit.
10. Quality and Documents
Every batch is tested before shipping:
Chemical analysis (spectrometer)
Tensile test
Dimensional check (OD, wall, straightness)
Surface check
Each shipment comes with a mill test certificate (MTC) showing the actual test results.
11. About GNEE
GNEE is an aluminum tube manufacturer and exporter based in China. We produce 6082 T6 aluminum tube in custom sizes and ship worldwide. Every order gets factory prices, a mill test certificate, and export packing (wooden cases with protective wrapping for sea freight).

FAQ
Q: Is 6082 stronger than 6061?
A: Yes. In T6 temper, 6082 has higher strength, mainly because of its higher manganese content. Note that 6061 is more common in North America; we supply both.
Q: Can 6082 T6 tube be welded?
A: Yes, with TIG or MIG. But the area near the weld loses strength. Re-aging after welding recovers part of it.
Q: What sizes do you produce?
A: OD from 3.17 mm to 406.4 mm, wall from 0.5 mm to 50.8 mm. Custom lengths are available.
Q: What is the lead time?
A: Usually 10 – 30 days after deposit, depending on size and quantity.
Q: Do you provide a mill test certificate?
A: Yes. Every batch ships with an MTC.
