Aluminum coil process

Mar 22, 2024

Aluminum products are one of the important materials in modern industrial production. Aluminum coils, as a commonly used aluminum product, are widely used in construction, aircraft, automobiles and other fields. However, in the production and use of aluminum coils, some problems are often encountered, such as brittleness. This article will discuss in detail the process of aluminum coils and the causes of brittleness.

1. Selection of raw materials

The raw material of aluminum coil is mainly aluminum plate, and the control of its chemical composition is very critical. The aluminum plate should contain enough aluminum elements, and at the same time, the higher content of impurity elements, such as iron and silicon, needs to be as small as possible. Otherwise, the quality of the aluminum coils will be unstable and problems such as brittleness will occur.

2. Aluminum plate processing

Aluminum plate processing is the primary process of aluminum coil production. The aluminum plate is rolled multiple times on the calender to gradually reduce its thickness and undergo reverse deformation at the same time, making its material more delicate. At this time, if the processing is excessive, the quality of the aluminum plate will be affected, and problems such as deformation or excessive hardening will easily occur, resulting in brittleness.

3. Aluminum coil annealing

Aluminum coils have high tensile strength and hardness. In order to ensure their workability, they need to be annealed. The aluminum coils are heated to a certain temperature and maintained for a certain period of time before cooling. Annealing can re-grow and recover the grains of the aluminum coil, and optimize the hardness and plasticity of the aluminum coil. However, excessive or insufficient annealing will lead to unstable quality of aluminum coils and problems such as brittleness.
