6061-T651 Aluminum Sheet

6061-T6 is one of the most popular 6000 series aluminum alloys. The 6000 series aluminum sheets provided include the 6061 and 6082 types. More specifically, the 6061 series aluminum sheet is a representative product from this series. Magnesium and silicium are the key ingredients in this series of aluminum sheets. It combines the features of the 4000 and 5000 series.

The 6061 T6 aluminum tread plate is the most corrosion resistant of all heat-treated aluminums. It is an alloy composed of silicon and magnesium. Despite having a lower strength than other equivalent aluminums, it is nonetheless commonly utilized.

This is owing in part to its corrosion resistance, as well as its good mechanical qualities. There are several methods for forming 6061 aluminum, including milling and welding. The machinability value of this alloy is 90%. It also has excellent joining capabilities. This product can be anodized or coated as needed. Base plates, truck components, marine fittings, marine hardware, electrical connectors, and camera lens mounts are all common applications for 6061 aluminum alloys. 6061 alloys can also be hot treated or cold worked. Cold working is easy to do when the metal is annealed, resulting in an end product that can be cut, stamped, drilled, deep drawn, bent, or tapped. These may all be accomplished using typical cold working techniques.

When heat treating this alloy, it should be thoroughly heated at 990 degrees F and then quenched with water. For precipitation hardening, the metal should be heated to 320 degrees Fahrenheit for 18 hours, then cooled with air, before being heated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for eight hours and cooled again.
