5005 aluminum plate is a medium-strength aluminum alloy plate that has a tiny proportion of magnesium as its principal alloy constituent. Magnesium content: 0.8%. It has the lowest strength of any of the 5000 series alloys and is the weakest alloy among non-heat-treatable aluminum. Cold processing (such as cold rolling) can dramatically harden it, producing several "H" states, the most frequent of which are the H32 (1/4 hard), H34 (1/2 hard), and soft annealed O states.
5005 aluminum sheet has good formability and can be used for bending, spinning, drawing, stamping, and roll forming. It is also very corrosion resistant and weldable. This aluminum grade is ideal for decorative anodization. The anodized film is brighter than the oxide film on 3003 aluminum plates and even matches the color tone of 6063 aluminum plates. Its popularity stems from its application in architectural decoration, building interior and exterior elements, and car interior materials.
