1. Analysis of core influencing factors
Structural performance and durability
The corrugation direction of aluminum corrugated sheet directly affects the compressive strength and deformation resistance. Experiments show that the vertical corrugation direction (along the length of the sheet) can better disperse external forces (such as wind pressure and snow accumulation), especially suitable for roofs and outdoor exposure environments;
Corrugated aluminum sheets with horizontal corrugation directions (along the width of the sheet) may produce greater deflection under local loads and require additional support.
Waterproofing and sealing requirements
Vertical installation (corrugation direction perpendicular to the ground) is more conducive to drainage, such as the vertical lock-edge aluminum-magnesium-manganese roofing system (corrugation upright) can achieve 100% structural waterproofing to avoid water penetration;
Horizontal installation requires overlapping sealing technology (such as sealant or overlapping coverage), and long-term use is prone to thermal expansion and contraction, which may cause the sealing aluminum sheet to fail.
Construction convenience and cost
Vertical installation usually uses standard angle brackets or T-shaped aluminum brackets for fixing. The construction speed is fast and does not require complicated cutting, which is suitable for large-area applications;
Horizontal installation requires precise alignment of joints, which requires higher construction accuracy and may increase labor costs.
2.Aluminum Plate Application Scenarios & Adaptation Suggestions
| Application Scenarios | Recommended Directions | Reasons |
|---|---|---|
| Roof (Sloped Roof / Flat Roof) | Vertical – Corrugations stand upright; use upright locking edge system | Enhances drainage efficiency, prevents leakage, improves wind and snow load resistance |
| Exterior Wall Enclosure | Vertical – Corrugated vertical reciprocating structure | Improves wind pressure resistance and reduces vibration noise |
| Interior Decoration / Partition | Horizontal – Corrugations arranged horizontally | Optimizes visual extension, reduces reliance on load-bearing structures |
| Agricultural Greenhouses / Temporary Facilities | Flexible – Adjust orientation based on span and load | Small facilities can be installed horizontally to simplify support frame construction |
3.Key considerations
Substrate matching
Preferably choose aluminum-magnesium alloys (such as EN AW-5754) or zinc-aluminum-magnesium coated plates (Zn-Al-Mg), which are both lightweight and high-strength, and meet the mechanical requirements of vertical/horizontal installation;
Pure aluminum plates (such as 1060/3003) are only suitable for low-load scenarios and require the installation of reinforcement ribs.
Supporting process specifications
For vertical installation, it is recommended to use a plug-in connection (such as vertical locking process) to avoid the risk of adhesive aging;
For horizontal installation, ensure that the overlap length is ≥10mm, and use sealing paste or EPDM strips to enhance the sealing.
Note: Vertical installation is the mainstream direction of aluminum corrugated sheet, which can take into account both performance and cost; horizontal installation is only recommended for non-load-bearing scenarios or special design requirements.
