5083 Marine Grade Aluminum Sheet Plate

5083-Marine-Grade-Aluminum-Sheet-Plate.pdf

Overview
5083 Aluminum Sheet belongs to the Al-Mg alloy series. With magnesium content exceeding 4.0%, 5083 aluminum plates offer excellent corrosion resistance and are highly weldable. The addition of copper provides about 28% electrical conductivity, making it one of the most widely used rust-proof aluminum alloys. For comparison, 5052 aluminum sheets are also available as an alternative.

Properties of 5083 Aluminum Sheet/Plate

Good plasticity under semi-cold hardening conditions.

Excellent resistance to corrosion from seawater and industrial chemicals.

High strength, superior weldability, and environmentally friendly.

Certified with China approval and Norway Veritas (DNV) certification.

Non-heat-treatable and limited machinability.

Applications of 5083 Aluminum Plate

Boats, naval vessels, vehicle components, and automotive and aircraft panel welding.

Aircraft fuel tanks, oil pipelines, instruments, rivets, hardware products, and electrical enclosures.

Pressure vessels, refrigeration equipment, TV towers, and drilling machinery requiring strict fire protection.

The 5083 aluminium alloy is well-known for its outstanding performance in the most severe conditions. The alloy is very resistant to both seawater and industrial chemical conditions.

The product has the maximum strength of any non-heat-treatable alloy but should not be utilized at temperatures above 65°C.

Good weldability.
With good overall mechanical qualities, the 5083 aluminium alloy is weldable and keeps its strength after the process. The material has great ductility, good formability, and performs well in low-temperature applications.

Typical Applications:
Commercial uses of this engineering material include:

Pressure vessels Vehicle bodies Shipbuilding Rail cars Tipper truck bodies. Mine skips and cages
We carry 5083 in flats, round bars, plates, sheets, strips, hollow bars, and square bars.
