5083 H116 Aluminum Plate Description

The H116 temper is applicable to products manufactured from 5xxx series alloys with a magnesium content of 3% or more. Products are usually strain hardened at the last operation to achieve the specified stable tensile property limit and to achieve the specified corrosion resistance level in accelerated corrosion tests. They are suitable for continuous service at temperatures not exceeding 150°F (66°C). Corrosion tests include intergranular and exfoliation. The H116 temper indicates that the 5083 alloy has undergone a specific heat treatment process to enhance its strength and toughness. In the H116 condition, 5083 aluminum alloy exhibits high strength and maintains good toughness at low temperatures.
